Online gaming site GameTrailers was shut down rather abruptly earlier this week, with owner Defy Media giving the outlet and its employees only a few hours notice of the decision according to now ex-employees of the site.
The outlet, which helped spur the trend toward video content when it opened its virtual doors 13 years ago, was purchased by Defy Media in 2014. Following the acquisition, a number of employees were laid off, and within two years the site itself is no more.
This is all a huge shame, and hopefully the talented employees of the site all land on their feet. Maybe they could all band together and go full YouTube/Patreon.
In any case, as a final act, the site has updated their Bloodborne video review, bumping it to their very first 10/10 ever. A well-deserved score from a site we will all miss.
